High Speed Services - ES* Italia - The Italian services of high speed premier trains operating on routes connecting Italy's main cities and towns.

ES* AV Fast - together with all other ES* services, are the cream of the Italian train services, a network of high-speed premier trains connecting Italy's main cities and towns. Enjoy the best customer service and beautiful scenery during your superfast, comfortable journey across Italy. All coaches are air conditioned and pressurised.

Reservations are always compulsory on all ES* services and your fare includes the cost of the ticket, the supplement fee and the reservation fee for your allocated seat. ES* services are operated by different train types, the top of the range being the ES* AV Fast and ES* AV; followed by the ES* Fast, ES* Italia and ES* City.

If you are buying a pass for example, the InterRail Pass rather than a city-to-city ticket please be aware that your pass does not include any reservation and you have to make one either with us or once you arrive in Italy in order to board these trains.

Passengers travelling in 1st Class will receive a 'welcome onboard' service, which includes a small snack and a hot or cold drink served at your seat; on morning trains a daily newspaper will be offered to you. Assistance is provided to all passengers with disabilities.

Night services - Trenitalia provides night time domestic connections between Italy's most important cities, as well as smaller towns, with Intercity Nights (ICN) and Espresso services.

Accommodation coaches are 1st and 2nd class, divided in sleeper style and couchette style accommodation, please note however that not all services carry all accommodation types at all times.

Sleepers - Sleeper coaches are made up of variable configuration of Single (S), Double (D) and Triple (T) bed cabins; all cabins have wash basin with hot & cold water, razor plug, bed lamp and clothes hanger; everybody is provided with a toiletry kit, a bottle of water and a hot drink together with the daily newspaper in the morning.

All cabins are air-conditioned and can be securely locked from the inside, they also have a call button which connects you directly with the conductor travelling on board.

Couchette Comfort - Couchette Comfort coaches are made up of 4 couchette bunk beds, which you can reserve any number of, also, if it's available you're able to reserve a bed in a single sex cabin. Every passenger will get a toiletry kit, a bottle of water and a newspaper in the morning.

All cabins are air-conditioned, can be securely locked and have a call button as standard.

Couchette - Basic Couchette accommodation is the most economical way of travelling overnight in Italy and couchette coaches are made up of variable configurations of either 6 or 4 couchette bunk beds in each cabin.

These couchette cabins are not segregated by sex and you are expected to sleep in your daytime clothes; all cabins can be locked from the inside.

More Info - For refreshments on many overnight services there is a trolley mini-bar and children up until 4 years of age travel free of charge as long as they share a bed with an adult or with another paying child.

On all overnight services you're able to carry your own bicycle free of charge, as long as it is in a proper bike-carrying bag.
